Prenatal Care For Babies Suspected of Having a Congenital Heart Defect

Discover how advances in medical technology allow most congenital heart defects to be detected before birth. At Nicklaus Children's Heart Institute, we understand the emotions that come with such a diagnosis. Our Prenatal Heart Program supports expectant families every step of the way, from diagnostic evaluation and planning to innovative care for infants with congenital heart disease.

Our team collaborates with community physicians and maternal fetal medicine specialists to ensure comprehensive care for both mother and baby. From prenatal counseling and advanced fetal echocardiograms to postnatal care and follow-up appointments, we are dedicated to ensuring the health and well-being of your family.

Supported by a patient navigator, pediatric cardiologists, surgeons, nurses, and specialists, our program offers coordinated care throughout your baby's journey. If hospitalization is required, families can stay with their baby in our state-of-the-art Cardiac Intensive Care Unit.

Follow-up appointments are conveniently available across Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties. Nicklauschildrens.org/prenatalheart.
