The Nicklaus Children's Hospital Cancer and Blood Disorders Center has been recognized by the Florida Cancer Data System (FCDS) with the Jean Byers Award for Excellence in Cancer Registration for 2019. The FCDS recognizes facilities that have met or exceeded the national quality standards for timeliness and completeness in cancer reporting.

Our team values the importance of cancer data and reporting as part of our continued commitment to the patients in our care," said Peggy Townsend, MSM, BSN, RN, CPON, Director of Operations for the Cancer and Blood Disorders Center at Nicklaus Children's Hospital.
FCDS is Florida Statewide Cancer Registry has been collected cancer incidence data since 1981.
The Cancer and Blood Disorders Center at Nicklaus Children's Hospital provides state-of-the-art medical and surgical care to pediatric cancer patients in South Florida. The program is recognized for its holistic treatment approach that places the child and family at the center of a highly coordinated network.
