"My name is Carla and I have worked at MCHS for close to 19 years. My son, Zach, was born at 28 weeks gestation and lived in our NICU for close to 3 months. Being a nurse myself, I can assure that when the tables are turned, being the patient and not the healthcare provider was surreal to me. I had lost total control of being able to provide care to my son. I now understood how the parents of the many children I had taken care of felt. During Zach’s time in the NICU, the team of doctors, nurses, and rehab specialists assigned to my son exemplified dedication and compassion; I could never thank them enough.Today, Zach is a thriving 4 year old getting ready for Kindergarten! Our family will forever be grateful for the clinicians that touched upon Zach’s journey during his hospital stay and post-discharge."
