“Our son Patrick was run over by a truck on June 9, 2009, and airlifted to Nicklaus Children's Hospital, formerly Miami Children's Hospital. He was given only a 20 percent chance to live due to his injuries. He had two fractured ribs, lacerations on both lungs, a lacerated kidney, spleen and liver on his right side, and a severed kidney on the left. He also had two broken legs, his right arm was broken in two places, his pelvic bones were broken, his left eye bone was fractured, and his right elbow and shoulder were smashed. Today, Patrick is alive, up and walking – running almost – and can even do some fifth grade school work. He does everything a normal boy can do at his age, even acting silly. This has really been a miraculous story. The Nicklaus Children's Hospital trauma doctors took such good care of him. They saved his life and took such good care that today you can't see any signs of his injuries – just a few scars.”
