Nicklaus Children’s offers various types of imaging technologies. These include:
Depending on their age, some children may require sedation for imaging so they remain calm and still. Some children also require an IV contrast to help make the images clearer. The child’s doctor will review the imaging studies with the family in detail to help explain next steps in the treatment plan.
Before treatment begins, each child will be evaluated by a neuropsychologist to obtain a baseline of the child’s cognitive function and abilities. The neuropsychologist will follow them throughout treatment to ensure adequate school support.
