Jill Tahmooressi has been a beacon of professionalism for young leaders. As such, she graduated with her diploma from Jackson Memorial School of Nursing and an Associate Degree in Nursing from Miami –Dade College. She received her BSN from St. Petersburg College and her MBA and BS in Health Care Administration from Nova Southeastern University. Jill holds national certifications in pediatric nursing and school nursing.
In January of this year, she was appointed as a Trustee of Nurses Charitable Trust by unanimous decision by the other Trustees. She began her career at MCH as a staff nurse in 1980 then quickly rose to become a Manager of the Surgical Unit. She progressed to the Director of Medical/Surgical Services and ultimately became the Director for Nursing Ambulatory Services with the Miami Children’s Health System.
Jill began with the Ambulatory Network with two centers and now has fostered growth to eight centers throughout Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties. She was very involved in the development of the Humpty Dumpty Pediatric Falls Prevention program, especially in the outpatient arena. This tool is now in use in over 1,100 hospitals worldwide, as well as in all 50 states and all branches of the U.S. military. Jill has served in leadership role within the profession and within FNA for many years. She has set the bar high for others in always leading by example.
Despite her personal challenges in 2014, Jill maintained her professionalism and continued to reach out and mentor others, encouraging them to be actively involved, especially within FNA. The leaders that have “grown up” under her leadership continue to foster that same excellence in practice that Jill has tirelessly demonstrated throughout the years. She touches many people with her generosity and positive attitude on life, no matter the circumstance, behaviors that foster high quality safe performance and overall outstanding patient care.
