Elba A. Iglesias, MD
Chief, Adolescent Medicine
Dr. Elba A. Iglesias is an adolescent medicine specialist and serves as the Nicklaus Children’s Pediatric Specialists (NCPS) chief of the Section of Adolescent Medicine. She earned her medical degree from Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City. Dr. Iglesias completed a residency in pediatrics at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, New York, and then pursued a fellowship in adolescent medicine at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, New York. Her clinical interests include adolescent gynecology, teen health and eating disorders.
In her role as chief, Dr. Iglesias is responsible for setting strategy, providing medical leadership, overseeing clinical care, quality initiatives, teaching and research, as well as promoting professionalism and a culture of excellence for the Section of Adolescent Medicine.
Prior to joining Nicklaus Children’s, Dr. Iglesias served as chief physician of Adolescent Medicine for Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, part of Memorial Healthcare System.
Dr. Iglesias is board certified in pediatrics and adolescent medicine. She also is certified by the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals as an eating disorder specialist. Dr. Iglesias has been a principal investigator and participated in several research projects. Her work has been published in peer-reviewed journals and she has presented at medical conferences, contributed to medical textbooks and medical education.
Dr. Iglesias is employed by Nicklaus Children’s Pediatric Specialists (NCPS), the multispecialty medical group practice of Nicklaus Children’s Health System. She is bilingual in English and Spanish.
