What is dysembryoplastic neuroepithelial tumor?
Dysembryoplastic neuroepithelial tumors are rare, slow growing, non-spreading growths (benign), found in children (average age 9 years old; boys more often than girls) and teens, that develop from different types of abnormal central nervous system brain cells. They are most often found in the part of the brain that controls thought, movement and sensation, and rarely in the spinal cord.

The cause in unknown.
What are the symptoms of dysembryoplastic neuroepithelial tumor?
The most common presenting symptom is seizures which are difficult to control, but symptoms will vary depending on the location and size of the tumor.
What are dysembryoplastic neuroepithelial tumor care options?
Surgical removal of the total tumor is the aim.
