Dr. Carlos Barahona is a pediatric emergency medicine specialist who sees patients in the
Emergency Department at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, along with the pediatric emergency departments at Baptist Hospital and Homestead Hospital. He earned his medical degree from Universidad Evangélica de El Salvador in San Salvador. Dr. Barahona then completed a residency in pediatrics at the State University of New York (SUNY) Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York, followed by a fellowship in pediatric emergency medicine at the same institution. His clinical interests include bedside ultrasound, global health and simulation.
Dr. Barahona is board certified in general pediatrics and pediatric emergency medicine. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and member of the American College of Emergency Physicians. His work has been published in peer-reviewed journals and he has presented at medical conferences.
