Pediatric Surgeon

Dr. Juan Calisto is a triple boarded certified pediatric surgeon within the Department of Pediatric Surgery at Nicklaus Children's Hospital.He holds boards in Pediatric Surgery, General Surgery and Critical Care and is certified by the American Board of Surgery. He trained Pediatric surgery at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh.

Dr. Calisto serves as the director of the Colorectal Center since 2018 the first only comprehensive pediatric colorectal center in the state of Florida.

Doctor Calisto is a world expert in pediatric colorectal surgery and robotic surgery. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Calisto is an active researcher and educator. He is involved in the teaching of medical students, residents, fellows, and medical house staff. He has presented his research and taught at many national and international conferences. He developed since 2014 a program to train pediatric colorectal to surgeons from developing countries.
