Pediatric Endocrinologist
Dr. Omar R. Beckett is a pediatric endocrinologist within the Division of Endocrinology at Nicklaus Children's Hospital. He earned his medical degree from the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine in Old Westbury, New York. Dr. Beckett completed a residency in pediatrics at Maimonides Children’s Hospital in Brooklyn, New York, where he also served as chief resident. He then pursued a fellowship in pediatric endocrinology at the same institution. His clinical interests include obesity and neonatal hypoglycemia.
Dr. Beckett is board certified in general pediatrics. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and member of the Pediatric Endocrine Society and Endocrine Society. His work has been published in peer-reviewed journals and he has presented at medical conferences.
Dr. Beckett is employed by Nicklaus Children’s Pediatric Specialists (NCPS), the multi-specialty medical group practice of Nicklaus Children’s Health System. He is bilingual in English and Jamaican Patois.
The Division of Endocrinology at Nicklaus Children's Hospital offers a complete array of diagnostic, treatment and consulting services for infants, children and adolescents with endocrine disorders. The care team is dedicated to fulfilling the medical and support needs of children and their families through a multidisciplinary approach that has helped children from around the world. Consultations with the division’s board-certified endocrinologists are offered at the hospital’s main campus near Coral Gables, as well as at select Nicklaus Children’s outpatient centers located from southern Miami-Dade to Martin counties.
