Ruben Reinis, Administrative Director of the
Miami Children's Hospital Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC), was named one of 23 ASC leaders under 40 by
Becker's ASC Review. The annual list highlights young leaders who have made a significant impact in the ambulatory surgery industry.
Mr. Reinis has served as Director of the ASC since its inception, overseeing physician recruitment, patient safety, fiscal management and procurement. He is responsible for the overall administration of the facility and management of nearly 70 contracted physicians and a staff of 30. Mr. Reinis has been with the organization since 2004 and first served as a patient care nurse in various surgical areas. He was a nurse manager for the operating room for 3 years prior to his role as ASC administrator. Mr. Reinis is a graduate of Florida International University in Miami where he received a Master’s in Business Administration and a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
The ASC is a state-of-the-art facility for outpatient surgery and procedures, designed especially for pediatric and adolescent patients. It opened in June of 2015 in collaboration between Nicklaus Children’s Health System (then Miami Children’s Health System) and a group of physician investors, to increase access to world-class pediatric outpatient surgical care. Located on the University Park campus of Florida International University, the center features five operating rooms for children up to 21 years of age. Close to 9,000 pediatric outpatient surgeries have been performed at the ASC to date.

plastic surgery,
